Original name and birth
Yash’s original name is Naveen Kumar Gowda. He was born on the 8th of January in 1986. He was born in Boovanahalli village to a vokkaliga family. Boovanahalli village is situated in Hassan district in the state of Karnataka. His father’s name is Arun Kumar. He worked as a driver in the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation transport service. Later he joined the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation transport service. His mother’s name is Pushpa. Her mother is a housewife. He has 1 sibling named Nandini. Yash spent his childhood in Mysore. He did his studies at Mysore pre-university from Mahajana Education Society (MES). When he finished his studies, he started doing drama in theaters. For that, he joined the Benaka drama troupe. The famous dramatist BabuKodi Venkataramana Karanth formed that troupe.
Acting Career
Start from Television
After doing theater for some time Yash appeared in a TV serial named Nanda Gokula. This serial was telecast on ETV Kannada in 2004. He was in the supporting role in that tv serial. Yash then did many other serials for the next 3 years. Uttarayana, and Silli Lalli in 2004. He then did one serial for Doordarshan in Shiva which appeared in 2005. Then next year he did Preethi illada male in 2006. Again in 2007, he appeared in two tv serials Male billu, and Sa.
Appeared in films
After doing Tv serials, Yash started appearing in movies in supporting roles. In 2007 he debuted in films with Jambada Hudugi. In 2008 he appeared in another supporting role in Moggina Manasu opposite Radhika pandit. He even got a Filmfare award for his supporting role.
He then debuted in his first solo lead film Rocky in 2008. Again in 2009, his two Kannada films Kallara Santhe and Gokula were released. All his films were not able to become hits on the screen. Next year in 2010 he did a cameo performance in Thamassu. Later his next solo film was released which became his first commercial solo hit. Modalasala was released in the year 2010. In 2011 his next film Rajadhani became a commercial flop but his performance in the film and film gets good reviews from film critics. His film has become below average at the box office.
Later Kirataka was released in the same year 2011. This film also became commercially successful. After two successful films, Yash came up with two films in the same year 2012. Lucky and Jaanu became average at the box office but he again gained praise from film critics for his acting skills. Later in the same year, his romantic comedy film Drama was released. Drama again became successful at the box office, even this film became one of the top grossers in 2012.
Getting early success
After Drama Yash became a recognized actor in the Kannada film industry. In 2013 he did a cameo in the songs of the movie Chandra. But his film was also released named Googly. Googly was a big film for him. In this movie, he acted opposite Kriti Kharbanda. This movie was also a romantic drama in which he played a businessman who falls in love with a girl. Googly was directed by Pavan Wadeyar. This film became a big hit at the box office and became the highest-grossing Kannada film of the year. The same year his film Raja Huli was released which also performed well at the box office.
In 2014 his next film Gajakesari was released which was directed by Krisha. This film also became a hit at the box office. Film critics also appreciate the film as well as his performance in the film. His next film was Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari in the same year. In this film, he acted opposite Radhika Pandit. This film again became a top grosser with around 50 crores rupees in the Kannada film industry. Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari’s film also got good reviews from film critics as well as from the people. This film made Yash a big star in the Kannada industry and even became the highest-paid actor in the Kannada cinema. This film stamped him as a romantic action entertainer.
Yash’s next movie Masterpiece released in 2015. This movie was a big hit at the box office. Again his acting was appreciated by everyone. Even youngsters copied his look from the movie. In 2016 his next film Santhu Straight Forward released which again became a high grosser in the Kannada industry. This movie collected around 30 crore rupees at the box office.
Pan India Superstar
After giving back-to-back big hits Yash became a very big name in the Kannada film industry but outside Karnataka people barely knew him. But then in 2018 K.G.F Chapter 1 was released which was directed by Prashant Neel. This film was released all over India in five languages. Other than Kannada this film was dubbed in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi. This film shattered all records in the Kannada film industry by becoming the all-time highest grosser film in that industry. KGF almost collected 250 crores rupees at the box office. This film and his acting were appreciated by film critics. KGF’s success made him pan India superstar in just one day. People are waiting for KGF Chapter 2 very eagerly.
Personal life
Yash has been in a relationship with actress Radhika Pandit. They both done many films with each other and their love affair was started after Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari’s movie. They both are the lead actors in the film. Before making their relationship public they got engaged to each other in Goa on the 12th of August in 2016. Even they kept their marriage private. They both got married on the 9th of December in 2016 in Bangalore. Yash organized a reception party for his Karnataka friends. They have two children one daughter named Ayra and a son named Yatharv Yash.
Philanthropy
Yash has done many Charity works in the past. After his marriage to Radhika Pandit, they both started an organization YashoMarga Foundation. Their target is to help people and improve society. Their foundation started working firstly on the water crisis in Koppal. Koppal is the district of the Karnataka state. They invested around 4 crores rupees to desalinate the local lakes. They wanted to convert lake water into pure drinking water which can be used in the affected areas.
