Ram Resurrects HEMI: TRX Returns in 2026!
Rumor has it that Ram isn't going to completely abandon classic V8 engines. According to leaked internal documents, the company is preparing a surprise for fans of naturally aspirated engines - the legendary HEMI is back!
By July 2025, Ram will resume production of the 5.7-liter V8 HEMI for its popular 1500 pickup. And even earlier, in the first quarter of 2026, the world will see the revival of the iconic Ram TRX with a supercharged V8.
The return of the HEMI will be marked by a pilot production run at the Sterling Heights plant, as well as Ram's plans to launch a new version of the Ramcharger.
However, Ram is scrapping plans for a long-range battery for its REV electric vehicle, delaying production until at least 2027. Instead, the company is betting on power and drive.
The new Ram TRX will likely feature a tuned 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 capable of outperforming the 720 hp of its rival, the Ford Raptor R. Despite its poor fuel economy, the TRX remains a symbol of strength and endurance.
The return of the naturally aspirated 5.7 HEMI with eTorque will give the Ram 1500 new clout in its battle with Ford and GM.
Ram has a big announcement planned for June 8, but it probably won't be the TRX. However, the news of the V8's return suggests that the era of classic naturally aspirated engines isn't over yet!
