Putin explains his order that caused 'internal tragedy' among the military

Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the situation that occurred at the front during the special military operation (SVO) in Ukraine. He explained that he gave the order to the division commander to refrain from attacking due to unfavorable conditions in order to avoid unnecessary losses among personnel.

Putin spoke about this in the documentary film "Russia. Kremlin. Putin. 25 years", a fragment of which was published on his Telegram channel by VGTRK reporter Pavel Zarubin.

The head of state noted that in one of the sections of the front, soldiers were "eager to carry out a combat mission." However, at one point, conditions arose that did not allow the operation to be carried out without losses.

“Weather conditions and some other conditions indicate that this cannot be done, because if they do this, it will lead to unjustified large losses,” Putin explained.

According to the president, he and the Chief of the General Staff gave the division commander instructions to “refrain from implementing these plans.”

"Only they have a whole internal tragedy. They are eager to fight," Putin shared, adding that the military "have started to carry out this task anyway," but "in slightly different ways."

Putin stressed that he receives reports on the situation in the combat zone almost every day.

"This is my job today, I really do receive reports during the day and late in the evening, at night. Because by this time all the information from the entire line of combat contact is collected," the president said.

Earlier, Putin called the elimination of the causes of the conflict and the provision of conditions for long-term peace the result of the SVO that Russia needs.
