Patrushev warns of growing NATO threat

Aide to the Russian President, Chairman of the Russian Maritime Board Nikolai Patrushev expressed serious concerns about the growing threats from NATO. He made this statement during a meeting in the Leningrad Region dedicated to the development and security of the Ust-Luga port infrastructure.

“Today, threats emanating from NATO are rapidly growing,” Patrushev said, RIA Novosti reports.

According to him, NATO's actions not only destroyed the international security architecture that emerged after World War II, but also led to the rupture of key arms control treaties. Patrushev emphasized that this negatively affects stability in Europe and around the world.

The Baltic region: an area of increased attention

Patrushev paid special attention to the situation in the Baltic region. He noted that NATO is actively increasing its naval presence there, as well as strengthening its combat and intelligence potential.

As an example, Patrushev cited the large-scale NATO exercises "Steady Defender 2024", which took place last spring. About 90 thousand servicemen and more than 50 ships took part in them. Patrushev emphasized that much attention during the exercises was paid to the naval component, which indicates the increased interest of the alliance in the Baltic Sea.
