German automaker Audi continues to work on updating its model range. Camouflaged prototypes of the new Audi Q7 and RS5 have been spotted on public roads.
Audi Q7: updates and design
The second-generation Audi Q7 crossover has been in production for ten years and has undergone two major updates. The new model was spotted during road tests in camouflage. Dmitry Shulpin's photos allow us to draw conclusions about some design features.
- The crossover has two-tier headlights with a narrow upper section of running lights.
- The exhaust pipes are clearly visible on the camouflaged Audi Q7.
- The door handles on the camouflage film are probably a temporary solution for test prototypes.
Technical specifications
The new Audi Q7 is expected to be based on the PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) platform, i.e. a modified version of the previous MLB Evo platform. The range will most likely retain petrol, diesel and hybrid versions.
Audi RS5: "hot" version of the liftback
A hot version of the Audi A5 liftback has also been spotted on Californian roads, which is likely the most powerful version of the RS5.
- The prototype has huge air intakes in the front bumper and massive wheels with large perforated brake discs.
- Two huge oval exhaust pipes in the center of the rear bumper confirm the driver-oriented nature of the prototype.
Hybrid version
The liftback has hatches on both sides, indicating a plug-in hybrid: one hatch for the gas tank, the other for the charging port.
Premiere and Prospects
The premiere of the new Audi Q7 is expected to take place no earlier than 2026. The premiere dates of the new Audi RS5 liftback are still unclear.
These updates are part of Audi's strategy to update its model range and move towards more environmentally friendly and technologically advanced vehicles.
