
"Metallic precipitation expected": situation in Moscow region and reaction of residents to night attack of Ukrainian Armed Forces
On May 26, 2025, two Ukrainian Armed Forces drones were shot down over Moscow. This was reported by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. As a result of the night attack on the Russian capital, air defense forces destroyed a total of five UAVs launched from Ukrainian territory.
On the evening of May 25, Russian air defense forces reportedly destroyed more than 10 drones in the Moscow region, which resulted in the temporary suspension of operations at Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports. Air traffic at these airports has since been restored.
On the morning of May 26, Ukrainian drones attacked Moscow again. In addition to the two drones shot down over the capital, social media reported that the wreckage of one of the drones fell near a school in Bronnitsy (Moscow Region). There is no official confirmation of this information yet, and no data on casualties or damage has been received.
Reaction of local residents
Residents of the Moscow region are actively discussing what is happening in local publics. "I live in Kapotnya, now I am sitting, enjoying life and listening to a choir from drones under my windows", "I heard a very loud explosion" - commentators write. The explosion in the city of Bronnitsy was heard by residents of Ramenskoye. In addition, at about 00:52, eyewitnesses reported a loud sound near Vnukovo airport.
Some users ironically suggested: “Maybe they should add to Yandex.Weather, and not to the news, that metal precipitation is expected, possibly with explosives.”
Local residents also report that in Shchyolkovo the connection has been temporarily lost, while in Pushkino it is working. Some users note interruptions in the functioning of GPS systems in Moscow.
