Russian Hockey Team Will Not Participate in 2026 Olympics
International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) President Luc Tardif confirmed that the Russian national hockey team will not be allowed to participate in the tournament at the 2026 Olympics in Italy.
The 2026 Winter Olympic Games will be held from 6 to 22 February in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo (Italy).
"We made it clear that it is the International Olympic Committee that must notify the Russian Olympic Committee, and they did so. And we want the IOC to officially announce that the Russian team has been barred," SVT Sport quotes Tardif as saying.
In March 2023, the IOC recommended that Russians be allowed to participate in international competitions as neutrals. However, this recommendation does not apply to team sports.
Let us recall that the IIHF does not allow the Russian team to participate in international tournaments from 2022.
