
HBO has identified the main characters of the new Harry Potter series
HBO has finally revealed the names of the actors who will portray Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger in the new series about the famous wizard.
According to Variety, Dominic McLaughlin has been cast as Harry Potter. Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout will play Ron Weasley.
Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer and director Mark Mylod expressed their delight at finding the talented star trio and thanked everyone involved in the casting.
"We are delighted to announce that we have found our Harry, Hermione and Ron. The talent of these three unique actors is amazing and we can't wait for the world to see their magic on screen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It was a real pleasure to discover so much young talent," the statement read.
Let us recall that the casting for the roles in the series was announced last fall. More than 30 thousand teenagers from all over the world took part in it.
What is known about the new stars of the series?
Dominic McLoughlin previously starred in the UK's Sky Studios comedy Grow, which will be released this year. Arabella Stanton starred in Matilda: The Musical in London's West End. Alastair Stout's role as Ron Weasley will be his first major role.
It is also already known who will play other beloved characters from the Harry Potter books: Albus Dumbledore - John Lithgow, Severus Snape - Paapa Essieda, Minerva McGonagall - Janet McTeer and Hagrid - Nick Frost.
Filming of the series based on the books by writer J.K. Rowling will begin this summer.
