Blocking of the Tsargrad website in Azerbaijan

The website of the Russian TV channel Tsargrad has stopped working in Azerbaijan. The blocking occurred after the chief editor of the Azerbaijani resource Minval.az Emil Mustafayev appealed to the country's Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.

Position of the Azerbaijani authorities

According to Mustafayev, the decision to block the site was a “clear example of how the activities of propaganda resources will be suppressed within the country.” Mustafayev had previously criticized the work of the Tsargrad website, calling it “full of outright lies, insults, and dirty insinuations against Azerbaijan, its people, and the country’s leadership.” He claimed that the site systematically publishes materials that degrade the dignity of the Azerbaijani people and the reputation of the state, and even uses artificial intelligence to create caricatures.

Who is Tsargrad TV?

Tsargrad TV is a Russian internet information television channel founded in 2015 by Russian businessman Konstantin Malofeev. It positions itself as "the first Russian conservative information and analytical television channel" and expresses far-right, nationalist, conservative and monarchist views.
