iPhone Prices: What to Expect After September 1
The law on mandatory installation of RuStore on all smartphones and tablets will come into force on September 1. And on September 9, Apple will present a new line of iPhone 17. The prices for the new devices may be an unpleasant surprise due to Trump's tariffs.
What iPhones will Apple show in September?
There are four new iPhones expected this year: the base iPhone 17, the super-thin iPhone 17 Air, and the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. The company will update the design of the Pro line, increasing the camera unit and improving the specifications.
- iPhone 17: New 6.3-inch screen, A19 chip, and improved Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
- iPhone 17 Air: super-thin design, one 48MP camera, and the power-efficient C1 chip.
- iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max: updated design, 48 MP cameras, new cooling system and 5000 mAh battery.
Which iPhones will remain on sale after September 9?
After the presentation of the new line, Apple will most likely remove the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 Pro from sale. The following will remain on sale:
- iPhone 16e
- iPhone 16
- iPhone 17
- iPhone 17 Air
- iPhone 17 Pro
- iPhone 17 Pro Max
What about the prices?
Analysts predict price increases for the new iPhone lineup due to Trump tariffs and currency fluctuations. Possible price increases:
- iPhone 17 Pro: from $1050
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: from $1250
- iPhone 17 Air: from $950
- iPhone 17: No changes, $800
What about RuStore?
From September 1, the sale of smartphones without pre-installed RuStore will be prohibited. However, Apple and the Russian government are negotiating informal agreements.
What to do?
Should you buy an iPhone now or wait for the next line? The decision depends on your device and your risk tolerance. If you have an iPhone XR or 11, moving up to the iPhone 16 will be a nice upgrade. If you have an iPhone 15 or 14, it’s better to wait until the launch.
